12-1-22   THOUGHTS

Psalm 11 is a simple writing.  At least two men in David’s life caused  him much trouble and fear, Saul and Absalom.  Here it seems that some are advising him to run for his life...  “Flee as a bird to your mountain.”  David’s answer is that “In the Lord, I take refuge.”  Then there’s the comment about “foundations being destroyed.”   It’s like he is saying “God is my refuge, HE is in his holy temple and His eyes see all, why should I run and destroy the very foundation of my existence?”  David’s confidence is declared in verse 7,   “the upright will behold His face.”

Ps 11:1-7     In the LORD I take refuge; How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain;  2  For, behold, the wicked bend the bow, They make ready their arrow upon the string To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart. 3  If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?" 4  The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD’S throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. 5  The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates. 6  Upon the wicked He will rain snares; Fire and brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup. 7  For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; The upright will behold His face.

Ps 25:2    O my God, in You I trust,  Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Isa 26:3   "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.

My Prayer:
We praise and honor you, O God, we lift up your great name.  May the foundations of our life be in you only.  Whatever we do in word or deed, may we do it in your name.  May our thoughts and meditations be toward you, O Lord.  When our lives are shaken, may we flee to you, and only you.  Be Thou,  the rock of our hearts.  May we be upright, always behold Your face.
In the name of our Lord and Savior,     Amen.
